Fatra membranes are exceptionally durable. When installed by a certified professional, you can expect a lifespan of 30 years or more. Unlike old-fashioned felt, it doesn’t become brittle under UV light or crack during a hard Fife frost. It stays flexible and waterproof for decades.

While Fatra is ideal for full replacements, we can sometimes use compatible single ply materials for repairs. However, if your existing felt roof is failing, it is often more cost-effective in the long run to overlay or replace it with a full Fatra system. This stops the "patchwork" cycle of endless repairs.

Each material has its place, but Fatra single ply offers a fantastic balance of durability and cost. Unlike GRP, it isn't prone to cracking if the building moves slightly. Unlike some EPDM systems, the hot-air welded seams of a Fatra roof are incredibly strong—often stronger than the membrane itself—making it one of the most reliable weatherproof roofing options on the market.

It depends on the scope of the work. If we are simply replacing the "waterproof covering" like-for-like, you usually don't need one.
